| The Foxford Way is 86km long, with the Ox Mountains on one side and the distinctive Nephin Mountain on the other; it is one of Mayo's finest walks. It extends south through the Ox Mountains, from Foxford to Straide and around Lough Cullin to Pontoon. It is an innovative walk with a rich variety of flora and fauna and an exceptional archaeological and historical content.
During your walk, you will encounter bogs, mountains, rivers and Lakes and breathtaking scenery to delight the walker. Although not obvious to the landscape, the influence of man is chronicled through the many fascinating pre-historic and early Christian sites throughout your walk. The Clogher Bog Loop Walk is located mid-south of the county, and is one of five marked walking trails around the pretty village of Clogher. Following a network of minor lanes, tracks and paths past sites of both natural and historic importance. Telephone +353 (0)94 9360891 for information.
Ireland's School of Falconry offers an unrivalled opportunity to fly a hawk around the spectacular grounds of Ashford Castle. Lessons last one hour, and hawk walks for one and a half hours are available. Under the shelter of the woodlands surrounding the castle, falconry lessons can be booked whatever the weather. No previous experience is necessary and children as young as 7 years old can fly hawks with us. Bookings can usually be accommodated at a moment's notice. |

| Croagh Patrick |
| The Croagh Patrick Visitor Centre is located in Murrisk on the Pilgrim's path at the base of Croagh Patrick mountain, and opposite the National Famine Monument. The area around Croagh Patrick is rich in archaeological remains which provide an interesting insight into life in times past. It was on the summit of the mountain that St Patrick fasted for 40 days in 441 AD, and the custom has been faithfully handed down from generation to generation when thousands of people climbing the mountain each year. The Visitor Centre craft shop & tea room is located at the base of Croagh Patrick, Ireland's Holy Mountain.Saint Patrick, patron saint of Ireland, made County Mayo his home for many years around 400AD. Spending 40 days and nights on the imposing Croagh Patrick, he banished snakes, dragons and demonic forces from his vantage point. The surrounding county is littered with heritage sites, stemming from the time he stayed here. |

| Kiltimagh |
| IRD Kiltimagh have produced a guide to the town of Kiltimagh which also includes information on walking routes within the area. This brochure is available to download from the home page of the website or from local tourism information offices. Mayo has plenty of activities to keep children of all ages busy and having fun while on holidays - visitor attractions, family-oriented festivals, blue flag beaches, activities and playgrounds.
Day visitor attractions such as pet farms and activity centres are abundant throughout the region, and museums and heritage centres have activities specially designed to appeal to children.
You could also time your family's visit to coincide with one of the festivals in Ireland's West. Two festivals are just for kids they are Babora International Arts Festival for Children in Galway City and the Roola Boola Childrens Arts Festival in Castlebar, both of which take place in October each year.
Arts festivals throughout the region are also great fun for families, and most feature a children's programme to appeal to all ages.

| The proximity of these and many other challenging golf courses to Kiltimagh makes to the Mill Park Hotel an ideal choice for the golfer when visiting the West of in Ireland
Ballinrobe Golf Club's location on a 300 acre estate is an idyllic setting for such a magnificent championship course. The 7,100-yard, par-73, course was laid out and designed by well-known architect Eddie Hackett and the contoured greens, which are 80% sand based, are playable all year round. World renowned Irish golfer, Padraig Harrington, described Ballinrobe Golf Course as "..the finest championship golf course in the West of Ireland".
Claremorris Golf Club was designed in 1927 by Tom Craddock and is situated in the heart of Ireland's West, midway between Galway and Sligo near the town of Claremorris. This 18 hole parklands course is a spectacular par 73 layout measuring 6,143 metres and lies in an idyllic setting with mature oak, ash and elm trees a feature on many holes. The signature par 4 hole, the 6th, requires a long accurate drive to a well bunkered fairway leaving a mid iron to an elevated green. It is fully deserving of its stoke index 1, and a par here is well earned. Golfers of all abilities will enjoy this true test of golf and afterwards relax in a modern and newly refurbished clubhouse with full bar and catering facilities.
Westport Golf Club is a golfing oasis in the colourful town of Westport on the west coast of Mayo. The setting is spectacular and Croagh Patrick, Ireland's holy mountain, seems to follow you everywhere on the course. The 18-hole championship course was designed by Fred Hawtree, designer of the new course at St. Andrews. There is a range of long and short par 3s and 4s, and the 12th and 15th in particular call for exceptional skills. Full bar and restaurant facilities are available and overlook the course. |
